Mississipi Blues Trail - Union Copunty
7/28/2008

Hill Country Blues are part of the story of the Mississippi Blues culture that brings tourists to the Magnolia State to learn firsthand about this unique sound.

New Albany is part of this blues tradition and will have at least two Blues Markers on the statewide trail.  The Union County Historical Society is working with the Mississippi Blues commission in the creation of markers for Mosley & Johnson Blues Band, Elder Roma Wilson and Leon Pinson and Billy Ball, all who are part of the story of the blues in the Hills Country of Mississippi.

The Blues Trail includes more than 120 markers at sites throughout the state, funded in part through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities and the Mississippi Department of Transportation, Federal highway Administration and others.  Local matching funds are needed for these markers.  Call the museum for more information about donating to the local Blues Trail markers.

Celebrations will be held when the Blues Markers are placed.
